Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has asked Machakos county residents to judge him by his track record for the past four years.

Speaking at Kangundo High School grounds on Wednesday where he launched his “Uliza Serikali” (Ask the Government) accountability program, Mutua said his administration was committed to ensuring efficient services to Machakos residents.

Mutua said this programme would be conducted at the grassroots level around Machakos County where residents will be provided with necessary and accurate information on the ongoing development projects and the services being provided by the county government.

“We want the residents to know what the office of the governor has done in terms of development and judge if it is beneficial to them,” he said.

This plan would be important as the people will be able to see what has been done and validate whether their taxes have been well utilized or not.

“The public has the right to know what how their taxes have been used and should be in a position to say which projects are beneficial to them,” he said.

Several camps have been accusing the governor of mismanagement of public funds and carrying out projects which do not benefit the local Mwananchi but Mutua has said everything will be in the public domain for all to judge him according to what he has been able to Accomplish.

“I have done several projects within Machakos County and those aspiring to oust me from office will face a tough battle as my track record speaks for itself,” Mutua said.

Barely a day after, Machakos workers have downed their tools demanding their pay for over six months.

The workers mainly from eight sub-counties have staged a demonstration outside the governor’s office seeking for an audience with the governor claiming the relevant officials had skipped several meetings where these grievances should have been aired.
