Supreme Court judge Smokin Wanjala has spoken for the first time since his conspicuous absence during the delivery of the full judgement on the presidential election petition.
Speaking on Sunday night shortly after jetting back to the country from the UK, Wanjala explained that he had accompanied his daughter who was joining the City University of London, in the United Kingdom to study Actuarial Science.
He added that his trip had been planned before the August polls.
"This is a trip that was planned long before the general elections," he said.
The judge, was however present during the previous email ruling that nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection.
Earlier reports from some quarters had suggested that Wanjala was was departing from the majority judgment by the Supreme Court.
The judge, however, rubbished those claims saying: "Ours is a sick society where all sorts of idlers and busybodies create and feed rubbish to an ever gullible public."
