The Judicial Service Commission committee probing allegations of Judge Philip Tunoi have released information that could land the judge in trouble.

According to the six person committee, headed by Margaret Kobia, they are investigating allegations that Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero, bribed Judge Tunoi to favour him when his opponent Ferdinand Waititu forwarded a petition to challenge Kidero’s win in the election. The allegations made by Geoffrey Kiplagat, who said he was the middle man, have been opposed by both Tunoi and Kidero. However, according to the Star Newspaper, the members of committee told the newspaper they thought the judge has a case to answer and were going to ask the president to set a tribunal to probe the allegations.

''We have been able to confirm some of these allegations, especially the claim that the judge was in communication with his accuser at the said time,'' said a committee member in the star newspaper post.

The committee is to share its recommendations on Friday. On the other hand, Governor Kidero still holds that he did not bribe Tunoi and that he has only seen Tunoi on TV.

If the judge is found guilty of the offence, he will be removed but this will only happen after the formed tribunal appointed by the president will find evidence of his wrongdoing.
