Judge William Musyoka has disqualified himself from the case in which the alliance had sued the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The judge left the case for another on the grounds that he will conflict the matter over his relation with Kalonzo, now NASA Presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga’s running mate.
The opposition had sued the electoral body over the backup system in relation to voter identification and transmission of results.
Leaders aligned to the opposition are against the adoption of a manual backup plan during the electoral process.“Considering that the said mechanism is only a backup system to the electronic voter identification and transmission system for results, it follows that unless the complementary system is established by regulations, the said elections scheduled for August 8, 2017 shall be exclusively electronic and without a complimentary backup system,” the Standard quotes NASA’s petition filed on July 10. The withdrawal of the Judge comes at a time when both opposition and Jubilee have intensified their campaigns across the country ahead of August.
