The Supreme Court of Kenya has held a bonding retreat in Malindi to deliberate on critical issues affecting the senior-most court in the country.
This was the first after the exit of former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga
Judges drawn from the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and Judiciary Training Institute together with consultants and media experts are working out a proper way of enhancing team work while executing their mandate.
The bonding retreat which began on Thursday came at a time when the senior-most court was heavily understaffed with only four judges who are unable to deal with cases that require a five judge bench.
The judges admitted that there were some cases which are pending because of lack of quorum.
However, they told journalists that matters that require one judge, two or three judges were being attended to as required.
