In the wake of strong utterances by Jubilee Party leaders, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, against the Supreme Court over the recent nullification of the presidential elections, the Judiciary has come out bold to defend its fraternity.
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) have jointly criticized the president for making derogatory attacks that could intimidate or paint negatively the image of the Judiciary.
In a statement, the bodies termed Uhuru's statements as unfortunate and wholly inappropriate, considering that they are coming from one who is a head of state and symbol of unity.
"We have noted the various interventions from stakeholders relating to the determination of the petition against the presidential election," read the statement in part.
"All commentary is valid because there is immense public interest in judicial proceedings and outputs," the statement added.
