Speaking before the National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee for vetting on Tuesday, Mwilu revealed that cases of sexual harassment have been rampant at the legal offices, coming out to say that she has been a victim of the same.

"There is sexual harassment in the judiciary. I am a victim," Mwilu said.

"It is real and the greatest problem is how to report the issue so that you are not stigmatised," she added.

Mwilu added that the biggest problem was that there were no proper mechanisms for reporting the offences since victims tended to hide evidence.

She however noted that they were working on a policy to see such offences curbed, adding that it was only through her strong character that she rose through the ranks.

"I have survived in the judiciary by being firm... being a woman is a challenge in itself," she said.
