[Photo: EACC]A Judiciary officer has been convicted, after he was found guilty of corruptly soliciting a Sh20,000.Kwale Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo, delivered the judgement, and found Tom Magutu Omare guilty.He was convicted and fined Sh640,000, or serve two and a-half years imprisonment.According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), they received a complaint on February 4, 2015, that a judiciary officer namely (Omare), who was a clerk at Civil Registry at Mombasa Law courts, was corruptly soliciting a benefit of Sh20,000 from Albarn Wambua Kituku as an inducement so as to facilitate the destruction of a civil suit file No.1323 of 2013."A trap operation was conducted and Tom Magutu Omare and Ibrahim Mokaya were arrested and charged with the offence of corruptly soliciting and receiving a benefit contrary to section 39(3)(a) as read with section 48(1) of Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act No.3 of 2003," said EACC.Ibrahim Mokaya who received the money later on, absconded court proceedings and warrant of arrest was issued to him.
