Chief Justice David Maraga has asserted the Judiciary's commitment to the fight against corruption.
Speaking Thursday during the launch of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division, Maraga said the Judiciary will not be providing refuge for people charged with graft, calling for concerted efforts from investigative agencies including the office of the DPP to help in curbing graft.
“The Judiciary will not be a sanctuary or shelter for the corrupt,” he said. “If you give us evidence, we shall convict, if you don’t give us evidence to prove a case beyond reasonable doubt, we shall acquit,” he added making reference to investigative agencies.
The new division launched by the Chief Justice is set to hear and determine all corruption cases within one month.
