Juja Township MCA Samuel Gitau and a section of area youths spent time on Monday in a cleaning exercise and unblocking drainage systems in the area.

Gitau said that he has partnered with the department of environment in the area and he will ensure youths are paid for the clean-up process as they chose to keep them busy rather than indulge in drugs.

He said that the area has been dirty thus need to clean it and renovate drainage system which have seen Juja town overwhelmed by stagnant water floods from the heavy rains has continued to fall.

The MCA called on youths to use their time for the improvement of their lives rather than to give credit to drugs and immorality which has become so popular among them.

“Let’s work to build our future as we have no time to waste. It’s unfortunate that some of us get involved in crime just because they are jobless,” said Gitau.

According to him, the county government need not struggle to give office jobs to the youths are there no jobs for everyone but should rather engage them into such clean-up exercises at a pay which motivates them.

The youths had also carried banners which had on them messages against drugs abuse.
