Juja MP Francis Waititu has called on the county government of Kiambu to apprehend illicit brewers to fight alcoholism.

Saying that drinking has become a cancer in the county, Munyua said that he has been sober for 14 days since he quit drinking alcohol.

The MP said he stopped drinking as a sacrifice to ensure he is a better example to the people he represents.

Munyua who was speaking in Juja Town on Monday said that young people are being subjected to slow poisoning by consuming illicit liquor in the market.

The legislator urged the county government to sensitise the youths and revoke licenses of wines and spirits dens which sell bad alcohol to the residents.

He expressed his concerns over the deaths in the county due to ignorance of county leaders to control illicit liquor. He appealed to Governor William Kabogo to address the matter.

Waititu further urged parents to be aware of the whereabouts of their children who will commit crime to afford the liquor.

The lawmaker noted that many involved in the consumption of alcohol are children below the age of 18.

Munyua said that the school dropout rate is rampant in the constituency and parents need to be vigilant to tame their children.
