The government has been urged to upgrade Administration Police Posts to police stations in order to effectively help in combating crime in the Juja area.
According to the residents of Muigai-ini in Juja town, the area which has only only five to ten AP officers has been hit by a series of criminal activities.
The residents lamented to their MP Francis Munyua and urged him to act. They argued that Juja has been lagging behind without government offices and thus lacks important services that should be offered to the public in the region.
“Juja and its environs faced lots of insecurity some time back, but improved later when you, MP Munyua, lobbied for police posts all over but now the officers cannot sustain the condition,” one of residents complained.
They added that security was deteriorating day after day because the criminals know that there is only one police vehicle and it cannot conduct patrols in all the regions and enabling them to take advantage of the situation.
They further called on the government to upgrade the posts to full stations, and equip them well with facilities to enable police officers to fight crime effectively.
The area MP has moved to refurbish all the police posts and build the police houses at the posts but the residents say that they need more police officers in the area.
The legislator told them to remain calm and give him time to act on the issue.
