Juja Sub-county residents and business stakeholders on Monday rubbished the proposed financial bill that involved the participation of the public, asserting they have not been consulted over the bill.
It took hours for a section of MCAs present to calm the rowdy businessmen and women at the Fountain Faith Church in Juja, saying that the bill has not been approved yet and any amendment was welcome.
Led by Kameno ward MCA Elizabeth Muthoni, who is also a member of the Kiambu Financial committee, the bill was meant for consultation purposes and the next meeting on Thursday, the bill will be amended and passed into law.
According to the residents and stakeholders, the same bill, which was for 2013/2014 was rejected in Juja last year and the matter is still pending in court.
The irate residents from Kiambaa, Kalimoni and Juja constituencies grieved that the MCAs should have called the public in an informal meeting to sensitise not only them but the old and the young within Juja Sub-county.
The agitated stakeholders were against the opening of the new county court that was opened last month by Governor William Kabogo, saying it was meant to embezzle public funds.
Witeithie MCA Peter Muiruri who was in attendace urged the residents not to be mislead and incited by the county leaders who are against the proposed bill.
“My peole have pinpointed areas that needs to be amended and I would like to say that this bill is not the same as the financial bill that is in court, this is a different bill,” said Muiruri.
The residents' attempt to push for the deadline to submit their memoranda from Thursday to Monday was declined by the MCAs and sub-county leaders present and urged to avail them on Thursday November 13.
