Kalimoni ward Member of County Assembly Joel Waichere Githii has launched a school feeding programme for Mwereri primary school in Juja sub-county to benefit more than 160 pupils.
According to the lawmaker, the programme is meant to attract children into education and to attend classes as stipulated in the school curriculum.
He was speaking during the launch of Green School programme in the same school graced by the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), the initiative is set to spread to all schools in the ward by the end of the financial year.
The MCA, who is also the chairman of education in Kiambu, condemned parents who withdrew their children from the institution due to lack of facilities saying the ward will not develop if the children learn from other school outside the ward.
He said that in partnership with the ward administrator Samuel Muthoga, they will ensure the school is equipped with all facilities needed by January next year.
“Together with Muthoga, we will work hand in hand with the county government to make sure this school has benefited and is equipped with various resources so that our children will have a better learning environment,” asserted Waichere.
The legislator promised to construct a borehole in the school and launch “Give Water to Kalimoni Residents” campaign in Juja in the next one week from where he will avail pipes to be used to construct water supply systems in the area.
