The AP Chief was speaking on Monday at Witeithie AP Camp during the first ever party hosted jointly by the police and local community.

“I am happy to see my officers and community intermingling and sharing at a party. This is the true meaning of Nyumba Kumi concept,”  said Wahome.

He assured members of the public that any information given to the authorities would be treated with strict confidentiality.

The occasion was graced by Witeithie AP Camp officer in charge Inspector John Kamau, his Deputy Sgt Tirus Murimi, Sgt James Kibuti, Corporal Julius Kabanya and local Assistant Chief J. Nyoike .

Speaking during the occasion, local businessman Eng Patrick Muigai and resident Susan Gakobu said the interaction would enhance cordial relationship and cooperation, a prerequisite for beefing up security in the area.

The duo called on the national government to increase the number of cops at the camp, and provide them with a vehicle for round the clock patrol.

Mungai said the vehicle would help the officers respond to distress call in good time.

He said the increased population as a result of the Nairobi-Thika Superhighway, which had led to Nairobians to migrate towards outskirts of the city was a major security challenge.

Mungai thanked Witeithie APs led by Inspector John Kamau for coming up with the idea of bringing both the police and community together to enhance Nyumba Kumi Initiative, cooperation and harmonious co-existence.
