E-commerce firm Jumia has appointed a new managing director for its food delivery business.
Shreenal Ruparelia is set to replace Duncan Muchangi.Shreenal is a former tech start-up co-founder, will now head Jumia Food.
Ms Ruparelia was one of the co-founders of BlueBear App, a platform that allows customers to manage and track customer engagement with products online.
“I am excited to join the Jumia Food team at a time when e-commerce is experiencing unprecedented growth in the country and in the African continent at large,” Ms Ruparelia said in a statement.
Mr Muchangi, who has been heading the food segment of the business since 2013, will join Jumia Pay.
Jumia Pay is the newest product in the company’s stable that allows customers to make online payments securely.
In Kenya, however, the product will be targeted at reconciling payments for merchants who use Jumia platform, according to the company’s head of communications Lilian Gaitho.
