Jumia, Kenya’s leading e-commerce retailer has presented a clothing donation worth Sh1 million to the Kenya children home popularly known as St Barnado's children’s home.
Parinaz Firozi the Managing Director Jumia Kenya said they made the donation to aid the over 1,500 children and young adults that the home supports.
“We are proud to support the good work being done by the Kenya Children Home in helping thousands of children and young adults have the opportunity to become their best self and live their true purpose in life. We hope these contributions will make a difference in their lives,” he said in a statement to newsrooms.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the home, Martha Muiruri, lead resource mobiliser at the home thanked Jumia for their donation and called on other corporates and individuals to contribute to the goodwill of the less privileged.
“We rely on well-wishers to run the home and are appealing to corporates and individuals out there, friends of Barnados to contribute whatever they can, someone out here needs it.”
Kenya Children’s Home was established by the Balcraig Foundation in 2002 when the Scottish charity took over the running of the former Thomas Barnardo House in Nairobi.
The orphanage is the flagship project of KCH and is home to up to 200 orphaned, destitute and abandoned babies and children at any one time.
