[Photo|William Kingi]Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi, attended a consultative meeting at the Technical University of Mombasa organised by the TUM Council Chairman Dr Kevit Desai on building applied research capacity for sustainability of the coast region.Being a major stakeholder in the developmental agenda of the coast region Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani got an opportunity to present the JKP concept to the French delegation attending the meeting led by Rosine Nzietcheueng of the French Higher Education and Research cooperation.She was accompanied by Prof Demba Diallo of the Universte Paris SUD and Prof Timothe Toury an Associate Professor at Universte de Technologie Troyes. They deliberated on a wide range of issues top being;Student internships and exchange programs in applied research; Collaboration in supervision of post graduate students; Engagement of industry in informing academic research; and Building mind labs that shall be translated into incubation centers for innovation.They also presented the JKP 14 sector blue print concept note and urged the French embassy to join other organisations such as FAO in supporting the JKP agenda by supporting research in other sectors. "The French delegation assured us of their support upon receiving our concept note. We hope that this partnership shall help further research in the remaining sectors," said Kingi.
