Malindi ODM Parliamentary seat aspirant Aisha Jumwa has called on politicians across the political divide to exercise maturity and tolerance as they campaign for votes ahead of the August 8 polls.Addressing supporters in Malindi Town on Sunday, Jumwa said political maturity and tolerance will guarantee the country peaceful elections.The MP aspirant cautioned politicians against divisive politics saying it is a threat to the country’s peace. Jumwa said politicians have a huge responsibility of preaching unity as they woo voters.“It is important for us (politicians) to be on the lead in preaching for peace and unity among our supporters,” she said as quoted by the Nation.The Kilifi Women Representative said the country’s peace is what matters urging Kenyans to keep off politicians who spew divisive politics.Jumwa at the same time asked losers in the ongoing ODM primaries to support those who win to ensure unity in the party.The MP aspirant pledged to advocate for locals interests, adding that her agenda will be to unite residents and push for equitable resource allocation if elected on August 8.Jumwa trounced her rival Willy Mtengo in the ODM primaries to emerge winner after garnering 8, 436 votes against Mtengo’s 3, 758.Political analysts say that the quest for the Malindi seat is now between Jumwa and Jubilee Party’s Philip Charo.Jumwa is a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga and has a huge support base of women and youth.
