ODM MPs William Mtengo and Aisha Jumwa will on Wednesday face off in a tight contest that will determine who flies the party's flag for the Malindi seat in the August polls.Their political rivalry has seen them engage in accusations and counter accusations against each other in their campaigns as they seek the elusive ticket.Mtengo, the current Malindi MP, prides in the development projects he's launched in the region as he woos voters to his side, and is confident of clinching the ticket. He has termed Jumwa as an 'outsider' who knows very little about the region and the people’s needs.Jumwa is the Kilifi woman representative who has since resettled in Kakuyuni.“Malindi people cannot elect a foreigner. Everyone knows where she came from and the electorate is not so blind to elect someone who was not born here and who knows nothing about the plight of Malindi people,” said Mtengo. On her part, Jumwa says she's the person to beat in the nominations.According to the Nation, she recently claimed there was a ploy to rig her out of the ticket. The outspoken woman rep says if she's elected, her priority will be to transform the living standards of residents. In Kilifi South, the contest will be between Nicholas Wanyepe and Ken Chonga.Wanyepe, according to the Nation, will be seeking to defeat Chonga who recently joined ODM from Kadu Asili. On the other hand, Kibarani MCA Gertrude Mbeyu will battle it out with Juliet Riziki for the Kilifi woman representative ticket.Governor Amason Kingi who was unopposed was given a direct ticket last month.
