Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa has embarked on a door to door voter registration drive in Malindi town.

Jumwa said she is targeting 100,000 new voters during the ongoing voter registration exercise.

She joins other politicians from different parts of the nation in the registration campaign, as both the opposition and Jubilee government seek to end the issue of voter apathy in their strongholds.

Jumwa on Friday addressed bodaboda operators, businesspersons and passersby at various shopping centers, where she was accompanied by her supporters.

Later in the day, she proceeded to the office of the registrar of person where she was welcomed by residents who had gone to apply for IDs so as to take part in the mass voter registration exercise.

“We shall be going from door to door, village to village until everyone with an ID is registered as a voter. Those who do not have IDs we shall follow them in their areas so that they easily get them without having to incur any costs,” she said, as quoted by The Star.

The women rep also called upon employers to create time for their employees to register as voters.

“We want companies to spare time for their workers to go and register as voters and if that is impossible, IEBC should spare time to go to the companies to ensure they register everyone,” she added.
