Cord leader Raila Odinga has suffered a lot for the country and therefore deserves a chance at the presidency, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed has said.
Junet while speaking in Machakos on Sunday called on the residents to support and vote for the Opposition leader come 2017 general election.
He also asked Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to support Raila’s presidential bid one more time.
“Raila has suffered a lot for this country including being detained for nine years, and having his results rigged twice. It will therefore be undeserving to not give him a chance to lead the country even just once. As ODM we are very happy with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his leadership style. However, our request is that we give Raila one chance after which we will support Kalonzo,” he said.
The vocal ODM lawmaker also hit out at Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
He said that the governor’s Maendeleo Chap Chap movement had no place in Kenyan politics and the next general election.
There has been pressure within Cord on who will be the coalition’s presidential flag bearer come 2017.
Cord co-principal Moses Wetangula is also eyeing the coalition’s ticket to face Jubilee Party’s Uhuru Kenyatta in the much awaited polls.
