Suna East lawmaker Junet Mohammed has called upon the ruling Jubilee Party to reconsider its move to amend electoral laws.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Sunday, the ODM MP, who termed the move as bullying, urged President Uhuru Kenyatta-led camp to embrace national dialogue.

The vocal opposition MP said the current route taken by Jubilee will only do the nation more harm.

He accused the party of initiating the amendments to punish the Supreme Court and make it helpless after it nullified President Kenyatta's August 8 re-election.

''The only way out of the ongoing hard times is for Jubilee to come down from their assumed tower and engage all the involved parties in deliberating over this issue. Also, if Jubilee wants this nation to remain stable and most honorable in the region, then it must respect the Judiciary and its independent decisions,'' he said.

He cautioned the party against chest thumping over the reception of defectors formerly allied to the NASA alliance maintaining that most of them are election losers who are out to seek consolation.

He said that most of them are empty-handed with nothing to hand over to Jubilee.

''Receiving a few defectors should not excite Jubilee and deceive them that they now enjoy national support. All of these defectors have moved alone upon realising that they command no grassroots support,'' he said.
