The Kenyan National Under-19 cricket team is confident of producing a good performance at the 2018 International Cricket World Cup set for January 13 to February 3 in New Zealand.
Coach Sachin Bhudia stated that this will be the beginning of Kenya to regain its lost cricket glory and they are determined to leave a mark at the global event.
He further added that most of the team players were toddlers when the Kenya last played in the World Cup and despite being in a tough Group A that also has hosts New Zealand, defending champions West Indies, and former holders South Africa.
Jimmy Kamande, a former Kenya international player, will return to the junior event as a coach, having represented the country in the 1998 Under-19 World Cup. He is hopeful that his team has capable players who will shine in 2018 global tournament.
The young cricket players are excited this event will jump start their career because that their age it is where events begins.
The cricket team is expected to leave the country soon for Australia for friendly matches against Sydney Thunder ahead of the global event. From there they will set off to New Zealand for two more warm-up matches before taking on to South Africa for their opening match on the day two of the championships.
