Four Administration Police are feared dead and several others injured, after an IED attack at Baure area of Lamu County.
The incident happened after their armored vehicle hit the explosion, causing the death of the officers with two more missing.
According to Noah Mwavanda, officer in charge of the multiagency security team in Lamu, there was an exchange of fire between the officers and militants.
The security teams has been working to contain militants in the Forested Baure area, and those team that was attacked is said to have been travelling to Mokowe to refuel the Armored Personnel Carrier (APC).
Those who perished were five officers, four dressed in the AP police uniforms, with one in civilian clothing.
A year ago, security officers from the Baure KDF camp were attacked, where six soldiers perished and 18 militants too died during an attack that was said to have been carried out under instructions from British jihadist Thomas Evans.
This are only two incidents in the recent past, even though there have been more attacks in the past.
