A court has ordered Nakuru county government to pay 13 workers Sh100m for illegal sacking. The workers are said to have been wrongly dismissed by municipal council 23 years ago.

Two of the employees died, 5 retired and 6 have been asked to return to their work stations.

After the order, the county wrote to the workers  to resume duties amid plans for their accrued salaries and benefits to be cleared.

The High Court had issued warrants for the arrest of former Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and the then serving county secretary Joseph Motari over the pay row.

Motari acknowledged they lost their last appeal at the court and workers needed to be reinstated as per the court order.
