Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa has commended that the Supreme Court judge Jackton Ojwang will make a good chief justice unlike the current chief justice David Maraga.

Kimani said Ojwang has a good understanding of the law and could have succeeded the former CJ Willy Mutunga.

"JSC would have given Ojwang a chance to be the Chief justice. He seems to have understood the laws of the land", said the MP.

The Jubilee MP said if Judge Ojwang was the Chief Justice, president Uhuru Kenyatta's August 8 polls will not have been nullified.

"Kenyans' will was turned by a group of individuals. If Ojwang was the head of the Supreme court,  Uhuru's win could have been held", said the legislator.

He added that Jubilee still stands a better chance to win in the repeat of polls.

"President Uhuru will still win against his rival Raila Odinga in the repeat of polls this time round with a bigger margin", he said.

Justice  Ojwang and lady Justice Njoki Ndung’u dissented during the nullification of the August 8 presidential polls.

The two judges said there was no evidence to support the nullification of the results.

During the 2013 presidential petition, Justice Ojwang was one of the 6 judges led by former CJ Mutunga who dismissed the presidential election petition .

Ojwang applied to succeed former CJ Willy Mutunga but Justice David Maraga received the nomination by JSC.

Maraga replaced Mutunga who retired early before his tenure was complete.
