Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu will replace Justice Smokin Wanjala as the Supreme Court representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
This is after she was elected unopposed by the Supreme Court judges, Wednesday. Earlier, three judges had declared their interest in the position.
Mwilu will serve as a member of JSC for five years. This is after Wanjala’s term came to an end last year.
Failure to have a representative from the Supreme Court within the commission would have hindered the commission’s readiness to resolve election petitions, more so a presidential one if it arises.
