A renowned academic doyen of Ukambani academician, Kabaa High School has re-branded to St. Michael Kabaa High.
The Catholic Mission School which was started in 1924 by the late Fr. Michael Wite in Mbiuni, Mwala sub-county in Machakos County has produced hundreds of distinguished academicians and high-ranking professionals in Kenya, among them being the Former President, Mwai Kibaki who went through form one class in this school.
Addressing students and parents during the official rebranding ceremony this weekend, Kenya Film Classification Board Chief Executive Officer, Ezekiel Mutua who also comes from the school neighbouring community congratulated the 68 students who had managed to secure a place in the public universities after last year’s KCSE exam.
“I want to urge all students to work hard in everything you do to help eradicate poverty in this area,” he said.
Mutua also asked students to exercise good morals in and out of school and be good role models to the neighbouring schools in the county.
“You have been pace setters and you should know everyone is watching to follow in your footsteps, therefore be good examples,” said Mutua.
The school principal, Gregory Muia said the rebrand was in line with Catholic Church statutes where all the Catholic Sponsored schools should bear the name of a Saint.
Also attending the ceremony was Machakos Diocese representative, Fr Francis Kioko who also came to oversee the rebranding and conducted Mass to bless the school.
Parents lauded the school for its exemplary performance over the years and promised to support the school management to ensure a smooth running of the school programs.
