Rift Valley council of elders Patron Gilbert Kabage has called on Deputy President William Ruto to ensure cohesion Rift Valley region.
In an exclusive interview, Kabage said Ruto should ensure there is peace in the region because it is his home ground.
While regretting the continued cattle rustling issue and pastoralists wrangles with private ranches in some parts of the Rift Valley counties, Kabage said the issue must be addressed.
“Deputy President William Ruto should ensure a cohesive society and more so in the Rift Valley as this will shape his political career. The communities in the region should embrace each other,” he said.
He also lauded the coming together of Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The move is in order and we hope it is not political but a move that will ensure peaceful nation. It will help us realize development," said Kabage.
He added that the two leaders should now focus on uniting Kenyans especially after the long election process in 2017 that left the country divided on political lines.
