Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has announced that he will seek re-election as an independent candidate during the forthcoming general elections.
Kabando's announcement is a reverse of his previous decision to quit politics after being trounced in the just concluded Jubilee Party primaries.
In a post published on the legislator's official Facebook page on Wednesday, Kabando stated that there was a wider scheme by unnamed forces in the party to lock him out of Jubilee Party.
“I am compelled to reverse concession [and] hereby carefully invalidate any compliments I conveyed. I have spent my whole life crusading for democracy and constitutionalism. I have consulted the highest hierarchy possible and shared with my key grassroots allies,” the post said in part.
“Fraudulent 'system' unleashed to disenfranchise sections, a plot to nip a career. Conspiracy. So do I in the face of massive manipulations 'accept and move on?'' He wondered.
The two-term lawmaker lost the Jubilee Party ticket to city lawyer Gathiaka Kiai.
Kabando conceded defeat to Kiai.
