Kabete parliamentary aspirants are meeting with the area security committee to agree on the conduct and discipline expected during during and after campaigns and the election date.
Kabete Chief Bernard Gikaru who was present during the meeting at the ACK Wangige Hall said the aspirants were expected to understand how they should conduct themselves throughout the period so as to maintain peace in the constituency.
“The by-elections should not put a stop to the day-to-day activities of the people of Kabete. The campaigns and everything other activity should be free from hooliganism and other negative conduct usually seen among the electorate or candidates,” said Chief Gikaru.
The aspirants cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) include Ferdinand Waititu (JAP), John Wamagata (Safina), Kavore Kariuki (Narc-Kenya), George Mungai (Independent), Moses Wachaga (Independent), Wilson Karanja (ODM), Isaiah Ndirangu (Democratic Unity), Newton Njenga (National Vision Party) and Paul Kariuki (PPK).
“We are already here with some of the candidates and the area Deputy County Commissioner Elias Kithaura is expected to chair the meeting and direct the proceedings accordingly,” said Chief Gikaru.
The Kabete by-election is slated for May 4.
Kabete seat fell vacant after the killing of George Muchai in a shooting in Nairobi’s street.
