Five contestants of Kabete parliamentary seat by election slated for May 4 have returned their nomination papers to the IEBC, with six others expected to return theirs by end of business on Wednesday.
Among those who have returned their papers include Ferdinard Waititu (JAP), John Wamagata (Safina), Kiriro Ngugi (DP) and Wilson Karanja (ODM).
With less than a month to the by-election, campaigns are already on, with majority of Kiambu MPs rallying behind Waititu as it was witnessed on Tuesday during a rally in the area.
Waititu on his side said he is going to keep the promises he made to the people before the JAP nominations if elected.
“I promised good roads, street lights, better health facilities as well as bringing our youth and women together for self empowerment. That I will deliver,” Waititu told journalists in Kabete on Tuesday.
At the same time, he condemned the Kiambu County Government for what he said is imposing high levies on businessmen, as well as relocating the County Headquarters to Thika Town without the consent of majority of electorates.
The seat fell vacant following the brutal murder of the then area MP George Muchai in January.
