Kabete Constituency residents on Tuesday held an Interdenominational prayers at Wangige town.

The prayers were in preparation of a by election expected to be held in May this year.

Kabete parliamentary seat fell vacant after the death of MP George Muchai.

Muchai was brutally murdered in Nairobi together with his two bodyguards and driver.

Those present in the prayer meeting were aspirants Mburu Kang'ethe, Charles Chege, Peter Kariuki and Charles Ngugi.

The aspirants were not given a chance to address the residents present since the pastors made it clear that it was not a political meeting but a gathering for spiritual matters.

Pastor Cornelius Macharia of Roots of Judah Worship Centre said the prayers were to ask God to intervene in the coming by elections.

“We are gathered here to pray for a peaceful, free and fair nomination process and by elections. We want God to intervene and give us the right leader,” said Macharia.

Most of the leaders vying for the parliamentary seat are eyeing the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) ticket following the popularity of the coalition in the area.

Other candidates eyeing the MP seat are former area MP Lewis Nguyai, Activist John Wamagata and MCAs Walter Ndambo and Charles Arahuka.
