Kabete MP George Muchai has asked security officials in the constituency to deal with criminals and assure residents of their safety.
Speaking to the press at his office in Kabete on Thursday, the MP said that the police have a responsibility to protect Kenyans and their property.
He said that locals are concerned over their security and that the law enforcers should intensify patrols and deal with criminals.
“The law enforcers should make sure that security of Kabete people and Kenyans at large is guaranteed especially this festive season,” he said.
Muchai said that promoting security will improve the economy adding that every Kenyan has a right to be protected.
The lawmaker said that provision of security is the major mandate of the government and that it should use its resources to fight crime.
Muchai condemned the recent spate of attacks in Northern Kenyan saying that perpetrators should be hunted down.
“The government needs to re-look at the strategies it is using to fight terror in order to win the war on terrorism,” he added.
Muchai however stated that Kenyans have to support the government as it strives to fight criminals and terror agents.
He said that blaming each other over the rising insecurity will polarise the situation and give the perpetrators more confidence to strike.
The MP who disbursed Uwezo Fund cheques to the youth called for the support of security initiatives adding that the youth can boost security by working with the law enforcers to combat crime in Kabete and adjacent estates.
