Dressed in sacks, the locals on Tuesday told of their shock when they heard that their parliamentary representative had been shot dead Saturday morning in the streets of Nairobi.

They also prayed and read encouraging verses from the Bible.

The personal assistant of the MP, Amos Muguku, said he was awoken from his sleep by alarming calls, informing him of the MPs brutal death.

“I couldn't believe what I was told, and even asked my wife to pick some of the incoming calls, and I asked her, 'have you heard what I have heard? That Muchai has been shot dead?” said Muguku.

Apostle Francis Kiarie of the Akorino church encouraged the locals that despite the brutal murder of their leader, they would get another with great vision for the area like Muchai.

“Just like the heir of the biblical Samson grew again, even the people of Kabete will rise again,” said Kiarie.

A receptionist at the constituency CDF office, Peris Mumbi, said, “I will miss Muchai dearly. He was a good boss who was humble and worked with anyone, taking time to listen to other people's views.”

The residents, led by Wangige Traders Welfare chairman Eliud Wangai, read a petition addressed Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, giving him a seven-day ultimatum to arrest the killers of the MP.

“We ask the government to work speedily and arrest the killers of the MP, and we give them seven days, after which we will decide what to do,” said Wangai.

The deceased is expected to be buried this Friday at his home in Kamulu.
