Nakuru County Health CeC Dr Mungai Kabii has now asked Catholic Bishop Maurice Muhatia to report to the police claims that staff under the privately-run Catholic schools were harassed by by health officials while conducting immunisation against measles and rubella.
Kabii's remark follows accusations by Bishop Muhatia that the county health officials harassed the staff under under the diocese during the campaign which ended Tuesday.
On Monday, Sr. Cecilia Kamau of St Anthony Academy at Heshima Trading Centre in Bahati was arrested by health officials over claims of obstructing immunisation of pupils at her school.
Speaking to this writer in Nakuru Tuesday Dr Kabii said his office has not received any complaints regarding his staff.
In addition, the minister said no institution is allowed to bar any child from being vaccinated in campaigns conducted by the national government.
According to the minister, the vaccines are safe as all the necessary tests have been carried out and the results show that the vaccine is safe.
Bishop Muhatia has protested over what he termed the move by the county health officials of force themselves into institutions under the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru to conduct the campaign.
