This comes after speculation arose that Kabogo could be seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the next general election contrary to the agreement that Mt.Kenya will support Deputy President William Ruto for the top seat.

Speaking on a local TV station, two Jubilee legislators, Patrick Munene of Chuka Igambang’ombe and Catherine Waruguru, the Laikipia Women representative said that at the moment, the former powerful governor does not represent anyone and as such he is on his personal advancement.

"Just because he comes from Mt. Kenya does not mean that he is representing their interests. He is just seeking relevance for his own self because he is not even elected,” Munene said.

Munene’s sentiments were echoed by his Laikipia colleague who said that as a region all they understand is that they will support the Deputy President for the top seat as earlier agreed but they encourage Kabogo to also advance personally.

“He (Kabogo) is not speaking for Mt. Kenya. At the moment he is not even speaking for his county Kiambu. Kabogo cannot even speak for his own village. All he can do is to prepare for something else, which is also commendable,” Waruguru said.
