Mr Kabogo was recently quoted saying the deputy president may not get full backing from Mt Kenya region when he vies for the presidency in 2022.

But in a twist of events, Kabogo, who accompanied Mr Ruto to Kamara in Kuresoi North to issue title deeds for residents said his statement was taken out of context.

"Deputy President William Ruto will be the president in 2022," Kabogo said.

"If there is anyone who has doubts, certainly it is not me."

According to an agreement made by Ruto's URP party and President Uhuru Kenyatta's TNA before the 2013 presidential election, Uhuru, after his term, will rally voters from Central Kenya to back the DP when he contests for the presidency in 2022.

But Kabogo recently caused a stir when he said Ruto should stay well knowing that Central Kenya's support is not guaranteed.

Leaders from Mt Kenya region criticised Kabogo over the remark saying he does not speak on behalf of the people from the region.

Starehe constituency MP Maina Kamanda led Jubilee MPs in assuring Ruto of support when President Uhuru leaves office.

Other leaders present at the event in Kamara included MPs Moses Cheboi (Kuresoi North), Jacob Macharia (Molo), John Waluke (Sirisia), Energy Cabinet Secretary Chrles Keter and Malulu Injendi (Malava).

Ruto on his part said he understood that he has the task to go to Mt Kenya region to look for the votes since he knows without him campaigning in the region, it would be difficult for him to get the Kikuyu support in 2022.

"Many people have criticised my brother Kabogo for what he said," he said.

"Kabogo said we will vote for Ruto in 2022. However, he must go out and look for the votes. Do you think I will be able to get votes if I went and sat home and ignored going out to look for votes? Can anyone get votes when they are asleep at their home? So, what mistake has Kabogo done. He only said this man should go to all corners of the country to look for the votes."

"So Kabogo has not done any mistake. I will hustle and go to every corner of this country to look for votes."

He assured residents that government will support their quest to acquire title deeds.

"The Government will speed up issuance of title deeds to over four million Kenyans waiting for the vital document," he said.

"The Ministry of Lands is processing the documents so that the owners can utilise their land appropriately."
