Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged the national government to fast-track electricity connection to all public schools in the county.
Speaking at St Peters school in Juja on Friday during a prize giving day, Kabogo said that connection of electricity to schools will boost performance among students.
He observed many schools especially in rural areas are still not connected to electricity.
“The national government should expedite the process of supplying electricity to public schools so that our students can get time to read and perform better in exams,” he said.
The Kiambu governor said that his government will work with the national government to expedite the process.
Kabogo also said that his government was working on various projects that will better performance in schools.
He said that a plan to supply clean tap water to all public schools in the county will be implemented soon, adding that his government is keen to improving education standards in the county.
Kabogo at the same time urged needy but bright students who performed well in the national examinations to apply for bursary funds.
He said that the county had set aside adequate bursary funds for needy bright students.
