Ruto is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is also facing a tough challenge  when he seeks his re-election this year.

Kabogo said the Kikuyu community will support Ruto given the major role he has played towards promoting peace and integration among Kenyan communities.

"I want to assure the DP that we are fully behind him in 2022. He has been a key component in a progressive Kenya where unity has been our main agenda. As Central Kenya community, we support you bid fully," he said.

"This business of some people thinking we(Kikuyu) are mean should be ignored completely. We all support Kenyans who have  a clear development agenda," he added.

Kabogo led a delegation of several MPs and MCAs from Central Kenya to Ruto's Sugoi hom on Monday where they also discussed a number of development agenda for the Jubilee government before this year's elections.

The Kiambu governor was on record for having opposed Ruto's candidature before changing tune.
