Kiambu governor William Kabogo has pledged to work with the church to enable smooth running of the county as well as representation of the church in the government.
Kabogo, who was speaking today as he presided over the official opening of the 11th National Council of churches of Kenya (NCCK) regional conference at Jumuia Conference centre in Limuru sub-county, said that the role of the church is crucial in government.
“We cannot underestimate the role that the church plays both as a watch dog and in giving directions to the government. My government is committed to working closely with the church including in administration and matters of devolved governance,” said Kabogo.
Kabogo also challeged the church to monitor the management of the county government.
He said that the views of the church are fundamental in ensuring smooth and up to standard delivery of services to the people.
“Implementation of the development agenda needs all stakeholders to play their roles and the church remains the major stakeholder in this. It is through this that the county will analyse service delivery and make changes where necessary,” said Kabogo.
He added: “I would like to reaffirm my commitment to fully engage the public in key decision making and administration procedures.”
