Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has conceded defeat in the race for the Jubilee nominations ticket. The governor, who is battling Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, alleged election malpractices at Jubilee headquarters in Nairobi. Waititu took an early lead in the race on Tuesday evening. Kabogo said it had been a pleasure serving the people of Kiambu County, and wished his rival Waititu well in the Jubilee primaries. The governor, who was addressing a press conference on Tuesday night, refused to say whether he will be at the ballot as an independent candidate, or through another party in the August general election. He said some unnamed powerful people did not want him to be the governor of Kiambu, alleging that that was the reason why no action was taken after he filed malpractice complaints.
