Kiambu governor William Kabogo has condemned the Mandera attack where 12 people were brutally killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militants on Tuesday.
Kabogo now wants the national government to streamline security across the Kenyan borders to avert such attacks.
He has also urged top security agencies to work around the clock and guarantee security of Kenyans across the country.
“We condole with the families and relatives of Kenyans who lost their kin in the Mandera attack,” he said on Tuesday during a meet the people tour in Juja sub-county.
Kabogo said that it is necessary for proper security mechanisms to be put in place to protect Kenyans.
He lauded the national government for taking bold steps in taming terror attacks noting that terror cases had reduced in the last two years.
Kabogo, however, urged Kenyans to remain vigilant stating saying that the enemy is not a sleep.
On Tuesday 12 people were shot dead by suspected Al-shabaab militants who stormed Bisharo Lodge in Mandera that was hosting members of a theater group performing plays in schools in the area.
The militants are said to have indiscriminately shot in the lodge killing 12 people. The Tuesday attack has been condemned by President Uhuru Kenyatta and other leaders across the country.
Meanwhile, Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery has urged Kenyans to remain vigilant in the wake of the Tuesday attack.
He said that the government is keen to guarantee safety of all Kenyans.
The CS who spoke in Kwale on Tuesday said the government will not be intimidated by terror or criminal groups.
