Kiambu governor William Kabogo has dismissed President Uhuru Kenyatta's call for six-piece voting pattern in perceived Jubilee Party strongholds ahead of the forthcoming polls.
Speaking during a function over the weekend, the outspoken governor accused the ruling of imposing candidates on the electorate, adding that the citizenry should be let to make their own independent choices.
“It is of no reason to have politicians impose leaders on the electorate because of party inclinations. The people should choose leaders out of their own will and not through coercion or luring,” he stated.
“At the end of the day, the people will weigh the performance of the politicians, interrogate their manifestos and make the decision on the secret ballot paper. We should at least let that choice be theirs," he added.
Kabogo, however, maintained that he was in full support of President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid.
He is set to vie as an independent candidate, after losing out the Jubilee Party ticket to Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu during the primaries.
