Kabogo says that he is not frightened by Gakuyo’s bid to unseat him in the 2017 elections.

The Kiambu governor says that claims and suggestions in some media that he is afraid of Gakuyo are laughable.

According to Kabogo, Gakuyo’s entry into the Kiambu gubernatorial race does not scare him.

“The media will say whatever they want to say but the people who will finally speak in 2017 are the Kiambu locals,” he said on Saturday during a meet the people tour in Kiambu town.

Kabogo intimated that just like any other candidate Gakuyo has every right to bid for the seat.

The Kiambu boss maintained that he has done a lot for Kiambu locals and that he is confident of being re-elected for a second term in 2017.

Kabogo asked aspirants eyeing the seat to desist from preaching propaganda. He said that propaganda will not give them votes,

“Let all of us seeking seats engage in issue based politics,” he said.

Kabogo is seeking re-election as governor in 2017. The Kiambu governor has been conducting meet the people tours across the county to woo for locals support.

The entry of Gakuyo into the Kiambu race has been termed by analysts as a game changer.

Analysts say that Gakuyo is a serious candidate who should not be taken lightly.

Last week Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi alias Sonko endorsed Gakuyo’s bid. Sonko said that he supports the real estate tycoon bid to unseat Kabogo.

The Nairobi senator had in August this year vowed to support Kabogo’s re-election and his change of mind has puzzled analysts and locals too.

Gakuyo is among aspirants who have declared their interest to unseat Kabogo in 2017.

The real estate tycoon has vowed to give Kabogo and other contesters a run for their money in the Kiambu gubernatorial race.

Other candidate’s including Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu wants to unseat Kabogo saying that Kiambu locals want him to be their next governor.

Waititu who is a fierce critic of Kabogo has vowed to send the incumbent packing in 2017.

Most candidates will be jostling for the Jubilee Party ticket.
