Kabogo says that Cord’s threat will not help solve anything.

He said that no one is stopping the current commissioners from leaving office as being claimed by some opposition politicians.

“Cord should allow the process of hiring new IEBC commissioners go on as proposed,” she said during a meet the people tour in Ruiru on Tuesday.

The Kiambu boss asked the opposition to be patient on the matter.

He defended the government over Cord’s claims that it is hindering the hiring of new commissioners.

“It is ridiculous for Cord to claim that the government is hindering the hiring of new commissioners when the President has already signed the laws providing changes to the electoral body and its management,” he said.

He asked the opposition to support the government in ensuring that new commissioners are hired instead of criticised and making noise.

On Sunday Raila threatened that Cord will resume the anti-IEBC protests if the current IEBC commissioners will be still in office by Friday this week.

Raila accused the government of failing to pay the commissioners their exit package as proposed by the joint parliamentary committee.

The government while responding to the claims said that negotiations for IEBC commissioners exit package are already ongoing.
