Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has said that he supports more funds to be allocated to county governments but distanced himself from 'Pesa Mashinani' referendum push advocated by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto.
Kabogo said that there are better ways of having more money devolved to the counties without playing politics.
"If you ask me whether we need more money to come down here to the counties, I will say yes. Money in the counties is still within Kenya. But the way to have that money come to us is not the one Governor Ruto and CORD are using," said Kabogo.
The governor, who was speaking to journalists in his Thika office, notes that Governor Ruto should not be dancing to the opposition's tune.
Kabogo observed that many national government's roles were devolved to the counties and they need proper financing.
This comes in as reports indicate that Governor Ruto met CORD leader Raila Odinga and his cohorts in what is speculated to have been talks to try and bring the Pesa Mashinani and Okoa Kenya campaigns under one roof.
