Kabogo's meeting with the ODM leader on Tuesday has led to speculation that he was laying ground to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

But speaking on Inooro TV, the former county boss said their meeting had nothing to do with succession politics but was focused on the current affairs in the country.

"I was there to congratulate the former Prime Minister following his recent handshake with the President. True statesmen put their differences aside to unite the nation and what they (Odinga and Kenyatta) have done is commendable," he said on Friday.

Kabogo was among Mt Kenya leaders who called on Jubilee and NASA political wings to embrace dialogue after divisive 2017 elections.

He further urged politicians to concentrate on serving the electorate instead of 'wasting time discussing the next elections'.

"Why don't we speak about the next generation instead of always talking about elections every other time?" he posed.

"It is time leaders address challenges facing the youth, women and economy instead of discussing 2022 polls," the former governor added.
