A section of Kiambu artistes have said that they will support the re-election of Governor William Kabogo for a second term in next year’s general election.
The artistes comprising mostly gospel musicians said that they will stand behind Kabogo come 2017 polls.
Led by gospel musician Ben Githae, the artistes lauded Kabogo’s administration saying that it has continued to champion for their rights and welfare.
“We have come together and decided that in 2017 we will support the re-election of Kabogo,” said Githae during the launch of the Kiambu Artistes Sacco on Sunday that was attended by governor Kabogo.
Githae noted that Kabogo is the only candidate who can listen and address their plight.
Other artistes who have vowed to spearhead the re-election of Kabogo are musicians Loise Kim and Muigai Wa Njoroge.
The artistes who cited the Kiambu Talent Search that been taking place in the county said it has opened a door of opportunities for many upcoming musicians and artistes.
Kabogo who spoke during the launch vowed to promote the rights of artistes.
He said his government through the department of sports has put in place mechanisms aimed at promoting talent in the county.
Governor Kabogo is seeking re-election in 2017 and faces stiff competition from Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu and others who have so far declared an interest in the gubernatorial seat.
